The kids were in the crib as I was strapped to one of them on my back. Ha! It was all starting to come together but we weren't anywhere near finished. To complete this task I was ready to spend a considerable amount of money and time looking for my dream house. For my budget to remain sound, I travelled with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. Our routine was to walk around garage sales and auctions on Saturday and Sunday, and buy a variety of old pieces and new made. It was my job to spend the day in the driveway either painting or sanding. What I saw looked something similar to... that's when my passion to restore furniture was born. Even though the house was fully equipped, I couldn't quit. In the market in town, I rented a small space and sold some objects. It was possible to expand the area because I had plenty of pieces that I was able to use. My home became a place in which I held open houses. Up to 1,000 people could view items from my first floor before purchasing them. Growing Days was founded in my home. The business I was running was growing however my family was also growing. There was a perfect balance between the start of a company as well as being a mom. Growing Days fit perfectly. My daughter Nora was our fourth baby. While I was pleased with the direction my business was taking, I realized that I was in need of a little break. I took some time away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy the time I needed with my kids. This was precisely what I was looking for at the time. After a few months that my phone began to ring. People contacted me asking to assist them in decorating their homes and interiors. The majority of them came into my residence at my open house for furniture. After that, I gradually took on clients at my own speed. Soon I had multiple clients and I was running as a home improvement business. If you'd have told me that this business of mine could become the basis of a television show on DIY Network I probably would have been astonished. It's funny to think back to the idea.
